Start a Successful Healthy Morning Routine

How you start your day can determine how the rest of the day plays out. If you start by waking up late, you can fall behind on tasks and stumble through the day playing catch up. If you wake up early and begin with a good morning routine, it can help the rest of the day run smoothly.

Say no to technology

It may seem innocent enough but checking your social media sites or email before you’ve had a chance to ease into the day can easily lead to distractions which can throw you off track for the day. You might just want to quickly log into Facebook or your inbox to check for updates. However, the temptation is to start responding to and reading every communication and clicking on any links.

If it’s vital that you check your email or social media sites, maybe for work or you’re awaiting urgent communication, set a 5 or 10 minute time limit. Be very strict about this and once your 5 or 10 minutes is up start your calming morning routine.

Create a new routine

You may already have rituals that you complete every morning such as:

1.  hit the snooze button

2.  shower

3.  check your phone

4.  have a coffee to start the day etc

Our minds and body love a reliable routine. So, you may find creating a healthier

morning ritual helps you get more done and reduce the level of stress in your life.

After a, hopefully, restful night, your mind is recharged and clear ready for new information. Beginning your day with the same routine signals to your brain that this is the start of the day and get it ready for a productive day. If your morning daily approach is a haphazard attitude your brain isn’t receiving a signal that you are ready to start the day. This can lead to some mornings being more productive than others and unreliability in efficiency when tackling tasks.
